Luther

Luther is a black male detective which goes against sterotypes. He solves crime using his mind and very basic technology. He has a team of detectives however his private life is also a story told also. This makes us sympathise with him even more. He is an anit-hero but we still want everything to go his way no matter what he does wrong.
Luther is a british crime drama set in London making this a rural show. it is shown after the watershed and therefore isn't suitable for young children however is suitable for everyone else and would appeal to a wide target audience. For example there os alot of topic conversation will will get educated people watching it and a family with oldfer children may want to watch this too as it is good entertainment.
This crime drama doesnt follow all the conventions, you know who the criminal is before the detectives because you see flashbacks and watch them doing it.
you see crime scenes and the police are involved alot in this crime drama due to the anti-hero committing crimes her should not be committing.
The Murderer we know committed the crime however the detectives cannot arrest her due to the lack of evidence this makes this crime drama original and extra entertaining to watch.

CSI: miami (stoned cold)

csi has mainly one white male character, horasio. However there is a group of reaccuring detectives that solve the crimes in each episode. another mian character is a female.
CSI: miami is set in miami therefore i a rural setting. A different crime is commited in each episode, this one started off in a school with the school bully who then gets stoned to death this leads to many suspects including the victims of her ullying, the headtecher and the caretaker however it turns out to the the victims parents who killed her in order to get their revenge. These multiple suspects make the viewer want to carry on watching as it makes crime drama a guilty pleasure when they solve the crime themselves almost like a puzzle.
CSI is mostly technology based however the detectives used their brains to solve the crimes also. This make the programme more up to date. they use montages to speed up the time of the crime drama making things happen in a sorter amount of time then they actually happen.

Law and Order - review

codes and conventions
law and order follows the normal cides and conventions of a TV crime drama, you see the crime scene and then they use their minds mostly and witnesses but very little technology other than CCTV. They use montages to show alot in a little amount of time. Law and order is a guilty pleasure you enjoy watching it even though you know it isnt right, its fun to guess who the murderer is and getting it right is like a puzzle.

Audience
law and order has a wide target audience and will appeal to everyone however is not suitable for children resulting in it being shown after the watershed.

characters
the main characters are a duo both men, white, one in his mid 30's while the other is slightly older. they occur in every episode. however there is a different crime in each episode meaning a different cast, but some people have small roles but appear in every episode. One of the detectives is an anti-hero as he broke the law trying to solve the crime however got all the credit for it, the other is a hero and abides by the law.

it is a seris however you do not need to watch every episode to understand what is going on. It is in cronilogical order so you know as much as the detectives.
